International Accreditation Success for NUFYP
English for Academic Purposes
Over the past year and a half, NUFYP EAP (English for Academic Purposes) program of the Center for Preparatory Studies (CPS) has prepared for and undergone accreditation of its Foundation English for Academic Purposes (FEAP) courses 010 & 020 and Personal Development Module (FPDM) 010 & 020 programs.
In February 2020, NUFYP EAP was inspected by the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP). BALEAP is the global forum for EAP professionals and is a registered company and a charity. BALEAP aims to enhance the quality of learning and teaching of English for Academic Purposes in further and higher education by providing an accreditation scheme for EAP provision.
The Center for Preparatory Studies is delighted to announce that BALEAP have affirmed full accreditation of its NUFYP EAP program for a period of four years.
This accreditation enhances our reputation internationally and validates the vision and support NU has given to CPS. BALEAP has over 100 members, of which we are the 30th to become accredited. Of these thirty universities, ten are ranked in the world’s top 100 universities (Times HE & QS).
In the words of the BALEAP website:
A BALEAP accreditation visit looks at the whole EAP student experience, from pre-arrival information and support at induction, through the classroom experience and assessment, to the transition into university life. If you are BALEAP accredited, it is a sign to students that your EAP provision is of the highest quality.
This is further underlined when we take into account that these BALEAP accredited institutions will accept students from other programs, which have met the same rigorous BALEAP standards.
CPS will now be able to confirm our new status by displaying the “Accredited Course” logo on our website, through the link between the BALEAP accreditation page and our website and through the display of our accreditation certificate.
This outstanding achievement would not have been possible without the contributions of our faculty, administration staff, and students, our thanks goes to them all. But in particular, Dr. Laurence Kinsella, has been instrumental in leading the process and bringing it to fruition, and he deserves recognition especially for the speed in which accreditation was achieved.
CPS continues to plan for future development: we have attained international standing and recognition in teaching academic English; our future aim is to be a Foundation of choice for students in the region and the world.

European Association for Public Administration Accreditation (EAPAA)
The Graduate School of Public Policy (GSPP) Masters programs are fully accredited by the European Association for Public Administration Accreditation (EAPAA). Success in getting this accreditation means that GSPP programs are conducted in alignment with the best European standards.
A team of external reviewers from European universities reviewed GSPP programs based on the submitted self-evaluation document and a site visit. The site visit team included a panel of 3 European subject experts, a local practitioner and a Nazarbayev University alumnus. The site visit team interviewed students, faculty, administrative staff, alumni, employers and NU senior management to review the submitted information. Based on the self-evaluation document and site visit, the Accreditation Committee assessed and determined the School’s conformity with European standards.
Accreditation by the EAPAA guarantees high quality European standards. GSPP aims to constantly improve its standards and to qualify for global accreditation.

Institutional Evaluation by EUA IEP
Nazarbayev University was engaged in the Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) of the European University Association (EUA) between 2017 and 2020 to obtain an independent external review of its academic quality, research and strategic management practices.
