Grant from the US Embassy was won by graduates of the Graduate School of Education

The project of the graduates of the Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University was included in the top 13% of applications for partnership grants between US and Kazakhstani universities.

Zhuldyz Amankulova (doctoral student at the University of Minnesota) and Dr. Laura Karabasova (postdoctoral student at NU Graduate School of Education) as part of a team of scientists from the University of Minnesota worked on the project.

Applications were reviewed by a selection committee comprised of representatives from the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asia, the US Embassy in Nur-Sultan, and the American Councils for International Education.

The project is dedicated to the development of interdisciplinary connections between teachers, and aims to provide them with innovative approaches and teaching methods. Within the framework of this program, the University of Minnesota will cooperate with the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. 

Together, the two universities will develop effective measures for the professional development of teachers of English and natural sciences, as well as for the integration of English into the educational process.

The US-Kazakhstan University Partnership Grant is funded by the US Embassy in Nur-Sultan. Its purpose is to assist in establishing new partnerships with universities in Kazakhstan, as well as strengthening existing ones.
