Institutional Research Forum was held at Nazarbayev University
On October 10 and 11, Nazarbayev University (NU), in collaboration with KIMEP University, organized the first Institutional Research Forum titled “Using Data to Support Academic Quality, Planning, and Decision-Making in Higher Education”.
About 80 educational professionals involved in data collection and analysis and in the use of data and information for quality assurance and decision making in higher education attended the event. More than 25 universities and other organizations/agencies were represented at the Forum.
Нow higher education institutions in Kazakhstan are using data to support academic quality, institutional planning, and decision making; what challenges institutions face relative to data-driven decision making; and what steps institutions can take to promote an analytical and data-driven decision making culture – these and other issues were discussed at the Forum.
Around 20 presentations were made on different aspects of institutional research and analytics in various institutions. Among speakers were several Vice-Rectors (Provosts), heads of departments, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “Information-Analytic Center” and National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”, and other experts.
Forum attendees participated in group discussions and reflected on current issues in data collection and analysis in higher education in Kazakhstan and how institutions can foster a data-driven decision-making.
The forum was organized by the Institutional Research and Analytics team, Office of the Provost of Nazarbayev University (Head – Dr. Felly Chiteng Kot) and the Office of Quality Assurance and Institutional Research of KIMEP University (Director – Dr. Nurilya Shakhanova).
