More than 1500 Kazakhstani took COVID-19 probability test online
For about a month now Kazakhstanis have been using a “smart” test to estimate the probability of COVID-19 infection on their own. Starting from October the online-test was freely available at https://covistop.asia/covid-test/.
Developers warn that test results do not actually diagnose the disease and should not replace a medical assessment by a doctor. But the test does give users more information and helps Kazakhstanis analyze their probability of being infected with the COVID-19 virus.
“To improve the test’s accuracy in interpreting results we added and changed some of the questions. In addition, we implemented prompt popups and recommendations”, – says one of the developers Yussup Tumgoyev.
The test is in the form of a survey with questions and possible answers and is based on an Artificial Intelligence technology known as a neural network. The neural network calculates the probability of COVID-19 infection in accordance with the programmed information which includes the main symptoms of COVID-19, various risk factors, and the official protocols of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Now the developers are working on the improvement of “smart” test’s algorithms. In the very near future, they plan to create a new diagnostic tool for the likelihood of infection with the COVID-19 virus, which will include the latest laboratory research and IT developments.
