NU students are the winners of “Student Energy Challenge 2020”
Two NU student teams became the winners of the “Student Energy Challenge 2020” competition. “NaizagAi” team with the project “Development of a computer vision system to optimize mineral processing operations” and “Refillme” team with the project “Refillme – vending machines for selling liquid household products on tap” took the 1st and the 2nd places. The 3rd place winners is “AirFlux” team from Pavlodar State University named after S. Toraigyrov with the project “Production of innovative germicidal air ventilators”
Both “NaizagAi” and “Refilme” teams’ members are the students of the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences and the School of Sciences and Humanities:
The “NaizagAi” team members are Bekmyrza Marat, Baktiyar Akzhol, Ilyas Mukhlis, Baizhan Darkhan and Kainolda Yassawe, they are the students of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering program of the SEDS.
The “Refillme” team members are Alua Zholgazy (Electrical and Electronic Engineering, SEDS), Anelya Tynysbek (Chemical Engineering, SEDS), Aliya Omirkhanova (Economics, SSH), Serzhan Omarov (Electrical and Electronic Engineering, SEDS).
“Student Energy Challenge” is an annual intellectual contest between the students of technological universities of Kazakhstan who present projects and innovative ideas for solving energy problems. The competition is held by the KAZENERGY Association in partnership and with the financial support of Shell Kazakhstan since 2017. The prize fund of the Competition was distributed as follows:
1st place – USD 10,000;
2nd place – USD 5,000;
3rd place – USD 3,000.
Applications for participation in the competition were submitted by 60 teams from 18 universities from 9 regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Only 14 teams were selected to the final of the Competition. 3 teams with members from the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences participated in the final of the “Student Energy Challenge” intellectual team competition, they are – “Refillme”, “Kislorodnye” and “NAIZAGAI”.
