Nazarbayev University distributed 1875 PPE kits to the medical workers of Nur-Sultan and the Karaganda region
Nazarbayev University handed out 1875 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the medical workers of Nur-Sultan and Karaganda region. Sponsorship was provided by Nazarbayev University’s “Social Development Fund” subsidiary. The prepackaged PPE kits included a hooded gown, shoe covers, surgical gloves, an FFP2 / N95 respirator and goggles.
Personal protective equipment was donated as part of the Nazarbayev University Community Solidarity Initiative, a project created with the support of staff, faculty, and alumni to help fight the pandemic. NU Graduate School of Business provides operational support for the initiative. Participants raise funds, which are then distributed among medical institutions in Kazakhstan.
“By providing personal protective equipment for COVID-19 fighters, we strive to support frontline medical workers, – doctors, nurses, and technical staff. This support is our token of gratitude for their noble work. Since May, the Nazarbayev University Community Solidarity Initiative has provided personal protective equipment for hospitals and food for families of healthcare workers in the cities of Kyzylorda, Shymkent, Taraz, Turkistan, Karaganda, Pavlodar, and Nur-Sultan. We will proceed with this work in the future, as long as there is a need for such assistance”, said Assel Aimusheva, Executive Director of Alumni of NU GSB.
Students and alumni of the University are active volunteers during the pandemic, too. They have been handing out food to medical workers within the ‘Lunches for Doctors’ project and have been providing information support to the CIS and Kazakhstani doctors by publishing translations of scientific articles on COVID-19 as part of the Medsupportkz project.
