NU professors among the top 2% of the highly-cited scientists of the world

Nazarbayev University professors were ranked among the top 2% of the world’s most impactful scientists, according to a new study by researchers from Stanford University. The public list of the top 2% most highly-cited scientists during their career can be found in the Mendeley database (Table-S6-career-2019).

Among 8 professors: 3 are from the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, 3 from the School of Sciences and Humanities, 1 from the School of Mining and Geosciences, and 1 from the School of Medicine. 

“Citation metrics are widely used and misused. We have created a publicly available database of 100,000 top-scientists that provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator. Separate data are shown for career-long and single year impact. Metrics with and without self-citations and ratio of citations to citing papers are given”, – states the description to the public list.

The whole list contains more than 150 000 authors’ names from around the world, classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields.
