NU scientists’ project was included in the Science Fund TOP-30 ranking of the best scientific teams in Kazakhstan.

The “NӘR” synbiotic project developed by NLA scientists, led by MD Almagul Kushugulova, was included in the TOP – 30 best teams of scientists by the Science Fund.

Synbiotic “NӘR” is the first functional food product created by the researchers of National Laboratory Astana (NLA), Nazarbayev University. It has a number of unique properties, including immunity and active longevity improvement. The therapeutic efficacy of the product in people with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity/overweight, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease has been clinically proven. “NӘR” is also indispensable in the prevention of oncological diseases, including colorectal cancer.

This year for the first time, the Science Fund created and implanted a ranking for Kazakhstani scientists.  This ranking applies to project teams of Kazakhstani scientists who have successfully commercialized the results of their scientific and technical activities, reports the website of the JSC “Science Fund”.

– The rating will be another indicator of the involvement of the scientific environment in solving specific problems. Modern science should have an applied character – economic, due to the demand for new developments. In practice, it happens that work that is hardly noticeable from a scientific point of view brings multimillion-dollar income. And not always, a bright idea guarantees commercial success. – noted the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Science Fund” Aryn Orsariyev.

The ratings are primarily based on two components: sales volume and royalties, as well as publication activity. The balance of scientific publications and the commercial result reflects the real contribution of scientists to the development of the economy.

The rating was formed jointly with representatives of the Council of Young Scientists and using data from the information and analytical resources of Clarivate Analytics.

For the period of 2017-2019 by the decision of the National Scientific Council on the allocation of grants for the commercialization of scientific research results, the JSC “Science Fund” financed 157 projects totaling more than 17 billion tenge.
