NU Testing Center successfully passed an external evaluation
In March 2020, the NU Testing Center successfully passed an audit conducted by a partner of the ETS (Educational Testing Service) center. According to the results of the audit, the NU Testing Center implements all policies and complies with all ETS safety standards.
The Educational Testing Service is one of the largest private nonprofit organizations in the United States, which conducts testing and organizes exams using the standardized Scholastic Assessment Test program for applicants. This Service was created more than half a century ago (in 1947) in the United States and holds over 1.5 million exams per year.
“The staff at the NU Testing Center and the Department of Lifelong Learning are working hard to create a safe, honest, and open testing environment. And this external assessment and recognition of the center became possible because of their hard work. Our NU Testing Center will continue to steadily follow all policies and comply with all ETS safety standards” said Zhanar Moldasheva, Acting director of the Department of Lifelong Learning.
In addition to ETS, the NU Testing Center collaborates with such large international organizations as College Board, ETS Global, Pearson VUE.
It should be noted that the NU Testing Center was created in 2017 to administer international standardized tests. Everyone here is given the opportunity to pass both international standardized tests and practice tests.
Today, the Testing Center is:
- The largest SAT administration testing center in Kazakhstan (maximum number – 200 people per test date);
- The only testing center in Nur-Sultan city for administering computer GRE, TOEFL tests;
- The only testing center in the city of Nur Sultan for the administration of international standardized tests ETS Global (TOEIC, TOEFL iTP, TOEFL iBT, etc.).
The number of people tested at the Center is growing annually. So, if in 2017 there were only 235 of them, then in 2018 – 1122, and in 2019 – 1207 people. In the center you can take such types of tests as: TOEFL PBT, GRE PBT, SAT, TOEIC® for listening and reading, TOEIC® Speaking and Writing, TOEIC® Speaking, TOEFL ITP®, TOEFL® Junior Standard, TOEFL® Junior Comprehensive, TOEIC Bridge ™, International French Language Test Test (TFI ™), TOEFL iBT, GRE CBT, GMAT, PMI.
In 2018, at NU, the center’s staff, together with partners, held the first ETS Global conference “ASSESS TO PROGRESS – ETS TESTS FOR THE SUCCESS OF YOUR INSTITUTION”. The conference became a kind of platform for the development of international cooperation, the integration of Kazakhstani organizations and companies in the field of international certification of English proficiency, and it also provided an opportunity for networking. Representatives of ETS Global shared their experience in conducting international tests, as well as shared successful stories of using TOEIC in the world community.
The conference was attended by over 100 representatives of ministries and departments, national and international companies, as well as universities, schools and NGOs of Kazakhstan.
In 2019, the NU Testing Center was awarded a diploma from ETS Global for its cooperation.The TOEIC ® Test was developed by the world leader in Educational Testing Service (ETS). The TOEIC® system is one of the best systems in the world for certification of business English proficiency. This test is recognized by such major international companies as Siemens, Allianz, Procter & Gamble, Hewlett Packard / Compaq, Coca-Cola, TengizChevroil and others whose employees pass the TOEIC® test when applying for a job.
