NU4U Project: NU Alumni Meetings with Professionals
The NU Alumni Association is a public union created by a group of generous alumni in 2016. In November 2018, the association was officially registered as the NU Alumni Association. Its main priorities are to unite NU’s creative and intellectual alumni for the development and prosperity of the Republic of Kazakhstan and to develop mutually beneficial long-term relationships.
Thus, in 2020, “NU Alumni” established an additional scholarship for the students of the University. In addition, within the “E-tutor” mentoring project NU graduates volunteer and help schoolchildren with their studies. And in December 2020, NU alumni initiated a new project.
“With the support of the corporate foundation “Social Development Fund,” we launched a new project of the Alumni Association – “NU4U”. This is a series of interviews with various professionals, from business representatives to government officials. As part of these informal meetings, guests talk about their lives, education, professional experience, share what challenges they faced during their career, and give advice on how to build a successful career,” said Adil Kusmanov, a 2017 NU alumnus and project moderator.
The first guest of the project was Dulatbek Ikbaev, Partner of McKinsey & Company’s Kazakhstan office. He told about his work at one of the most prestigious international consulting companies and shared his advice on passing the stages of the selection process at McKinsey. Dulatbek shared new trends in consulting, the importance of soft skills, and tips on building a successful career.
“On December 29, 2020, the guest of the project was Timur Suleimenov, Deputy Head of the RK Presidential Administration. Timur Muratovich told us about his experience in public service, consulting, and auditing, in the Supreme Council for Reforms under the President, about social elevators for young people, and other topical issues. In addition, we learned interesting facts about working close to the Head of State,” said Adil Kusmanov.
Meetings of the project “NU4U” have a new format where graduates can ask their questions at the Q&A session. Video versions of the events are published on the NU Alumni YouTube channel (youtube.com/c/nualumni).
