The Office of the Registrar has organised a workshop “Experience during a pandemic: new realities and best practices”
The Office of the Registrar of Nazarbayev University has organised an online workshop on the topic “Experience during a pandemic: new realities and best practices” which became a meeting place for the Offices of the Registrar of higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and abroad. At the opening of the workshop Registrar and General Director of Students Progress Rebecca Carter highlighted that “The past two years have forced all of us to create solutions to support the educational processes in our individual universities”, so this fully demonstrates the relevance of timely experience sharing among employees of educational institutions.
Over 300 participants from a variety of academic departments, including the Office of the Registrar, the IT Department for Supporting Educational Processes, academic advising, and others, were involved in discussing actual issues of educational processes in the new realities. The workshop included sessions at which highly qualified employees of the educational sphere presented various topics to the audience as a speaker, as well as the round tables where participants could express their thoughts and discuss the questions they were interested in. Along with the staff of Nazarbayev University, representatives of Toraigyrov University, KAZGUU University named after M.S. Narikbayev, the American University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia), and the University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan) shared their experience at the workshop. At the round tables, the workshop participants discussed issues such as the management of the Office of the Registrar, academic advising, the archive of students’ personal files, the impact of the pandemic on employees of educational institutions, working with data in the Office of the Registrar, automation of educational processes and the development of diploma supplement.
At the closing session of the event, Vice President for Student Affairs and International Cooperation Kadisha Dairova underlined that “The Office of the Registrar is the heart of the university”, which once again proves the essential role of this unit in the life of educational institutions. Holding such events is a very important stage in the development of the Registrar’s Office and all other academic structures.
